Easy 3D Valentine Heart Paper Craft
Hi friends! Today I have a fun paper craft to share with y’all. Oh goody, something new and different for us (name that movie?!). Ha! I do projects other than sewing related on occasion but sewing really is my passion. Anyway, It’s a 3D Valentine heart with an arrow through it. I’ve included a smaller heart you can add on top with a sweet note as well. It’s a simple print, cut, fold, and paste project.
SUPPLIES:
Print out the pattern on regular paper (easier to fold) or cardstock
Scissors (I just got these scissors and I love them!)
Glue
Markers, crayons, or other writing utensil
OK, once you have your pattern printed out on the paper of your choice and cut the pieces out around the solid lines. (I printed the arrow sheet twice so I could make multiple Valentine’s with mixed paper patterns). The solid lines are cut lines and the dotted lines are where we will fold the pieces.
Start with your biggest piece (the main accordion style heart). Starting on the bottom fold the heart on the dotted lines. Fold the first dotted line towards the back. You can use a ruler to help you crease the lines straight if needed.
Turn your paper over and take that first fold and line it up with the dotted line above it. Repeat folding the entire paper accordion style (front, back, front, back) on each line there after.
Once your lines are all folded keep them tight and fold in half, creasing your folded up heart just at the bottom to create your heart's bottom point.
Take your glue and glue the two folds that are touching on the inside together. Set aside to dry. (Please note, I took the photos while using my hands to show the steps. Double duty. Forgive the awkward angles. Ha! I tried!)
Next take your arrow pieces. Fold along the dotted lines to make your arrows have the 3D look. On the middle folds fold them both to the back.
On the fold lines in the back fold them in toward each other. Take those back folds and glue them together.
Next glue your arrows to your main heart. Line the top of the arrow’s inside flap we just glued to the top outside fold of your heart
Glue the back arrow piece on the opposite side at the same height.
You can stop here or add your second flat heart on top. Write a sweet note or maybe add a few gems or glitter glue.
That’s it! I hope you found my directions clear and easy to follow. I think not only are these fun for a giftable valentine but they’d be adorable pinned up on a bulletin board or strung into a banner. Extra fun hearts for a heart attacked door, too!
